Why Adrenal Glands Stop Working Well
You have probably heard of adrenal fatigue syndrome, maybe you even believe that you have it. You will not get better, however, until you understand why the adrenal glands stop functioning properly. You have two adrenal glands on top of your kidneys. They are small, about as tall as a finger. They secrete different hormones such as cortisol which regulates blood sugar, sex hormones like estrogen and testosterone and adrenaline. As you can see by just these hormones, we need our adrenal glans to work well for our libido and our energy to be at it’s peak.
Adrenal fatigue occurs when the adrenal gland cannot keep up with our bodies demands. Fatigue often occurs after periods of prolonged stress, either emotional stress or physical stress from an illness. The glands get overstimulated, then fatigued, unable to meet your body’s needs.
Our adrenal glands release hormones when our blood sugar drops. These hormones cause a rise in blood sugar, giving us energy. If this does not occur, we feel tired. First thing in the morning, our blood sugar is low. A person with adrenal glands that work properly will be energetic after a full nights sleep as the hormones are kicking in until breakfast. A person with adrenal glands that do not function well will still feel tired after a full nights sleep.
